كتاب رياض الصالحين من كلام سيد المرسلين مؤلفه أبو زكريا يحيى بن شرف بن مُرِّيِّ بن حسن بن حسين بن محمد جمعة بن حِزام الحزامي النووي الشافعي هو مُحدّث وفقيه ولغوي مسلم، وأحد أبرز فُقهاء الشافعية

وكتاب مختصر فى الترغيب والترهيب والزهد جمعه المصنف من الأحاديث الصحيحة المروية عن الرسول محمد بن عبد الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في شؤون العقيدة والعبادة والحياة، وعرضها في أبواب وفصول يسهل على القارئ الوصول إليها والاستفادة منها. الكتاب به 1903 حديث مروي بسند مختصر مقسمة على 372 فصلاً. والأبواب والأحاديث مرقمة بالعدد المتسلسل من أول الكتاب إلى نهايته.

يقول مؤلفه فى مقدمته
" رَأَيتُ أَنْ أَجْمَعَ مُخْتَصَراً منَ الأحاديثِ الصَّحيحَةِ, مشْتَمِلاً عَلَى مَا يكُونُ طريقاً لِصَاحبهِ إِلى الآخِرَةِ , ومُحَصِّلاً لآدَابِهِ البَاطِنَةِ وَالظَاهِرَةِ, جَامِعاً للترغيب والترهيب وسائر أنواع آداب السالكين: من أحاديث الزهد , ورياضات النُّفُوسِ , وتَهْذِيبِ الأَخْلاقِ, وطَهَارَاتِ القُلوبِ وَعِلاجِهَا, وصِيانَةِ الجَوَارحِ وَإِزَالَةِ اعْوِجَاجِهَا, وغَيرِ ذلِكَ مِنْ مَقَاصِدِ الْعارفِينَ.وَألتَزِمُ فيهِ أَنْ لا أَذْكُرَ إلاّ حَدِيثاً صَحِيحاً مِنَ الْوَاضِحَاتِ, مُضَافاً إِلى الْكُتُبِ الصَّحِيحَةِ الْمَشْهُوراتِ, وأُصَدِّر الأَبْوَابَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَزِيزِ بِآياتٍ كَرِيماتٍ, وَأَوشِّحَ مَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلى ضَبْطٍ أَوْ شَرْحِ مَعْنىً خَفِيٍّ بِنَفَائِسَ مِنَ التَّنْبِيهاتِ. وإِذا قُلْتُ في آخِرِ حَدِيث: مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيهِ, فمعناه: رواه البخاريُّ ومسلمٌ."
