Climate for Tesla requires logging in with your Tesla credentials. Login is done securely through Tesla's own authentication system. Climate for Tesla will never know your login credentials. After logging in, you will be asked to give Climate for Tesla specific permissions to your Tesla information(see below).

Tesla Permissions

Vehicle Information - Climate for Tesla uses this permission to get your vehicle information, like the name, and features that your vehicle supports(like heated seats/steering wheel, etc.). This permission is also required to wake up the vehicle, which is necessary before turning on climate controls.

Vehicle Commands - This permission is required to send commands for the climate system. Without this permission, the app won't be able to do it's primary purpose.


Android Permissions

- Disable battery optimizations - Climate for Tesla needs to run in the background to allow you to turn off your screen while the app turns on your climate configurations. However, Android devices have battery optimizations that restrict background activity, which may prevent Climate for Tesla from functioning correctly. By turning off battery optimizations for Climate for Tesla, you can ensure that the app can run in the background and perform the necessary functions to control your car's climate. Climate for Tesla will prompt for this permission after a successful login.

- Bluetooth - Climate for Tesla may request permission to access your device's Bluetooth capabilities. This permission is optional and is only used to enable Bluetooth when starting a climate configuration. The app does not collect or share any personal data or use this permission for any other purpose. The messaging from Android can seem a little scary, but rest assured that your privacy and security are our top priority.

- Notifications - Climate for Tesla may request permissions for notifications. Since Climate for Tesla sends vehicle commands in the background, it won't always be able to display error messages if they happen. Climate for Tesla will use local notifications to notify of an issues that occur during the processing of climate commands.
