அகத்தியர் தேவாரத் திரட்டு என்பது தேவாரத்திலிருந்து 25 தேவாரப்பதிகங்களைக் கொண்ட தொகுப்பாகும். இப்பாடல்கள் அகத்திய முனிவரால் தொகுக்கப்பட்டதால் அவரது பெயரால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது என்று கருதப்படுகிறது

சமயக் குரவர்கள் நால்வர் எழுதிய தேவாரத்தில் மொத்தமாக 8262 பாடல்கள் உள்ளன. இப்பாடல்களின் தொகுதி அடங்கன் முறை எனப்படுகிறது. இதனை சிவாலய முனிவர் என்பவர் பாராயணம் செய்ய முயன்று தோற்றார். இதனை சிதம்பரம் நடராசரிடம் முறையிட்டமையால், அகத்திய முனிவரை தரிசிக்கும்படி அறிவுறுத்தினார். இதன் படி பொதிகை மலையில் மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் தவத்தினை மேற்கோண்டார் சிவாலய முனிவர். அதன் பலனால் அகத்தியரை கண்டார். அகத்தியர் சிவாலய முனிவருக்காக தினமும் தேவாரத்தினைப் படிக்க ஏதுவாக 25 பதிகங்களை தேர்வு செய்து தந்தார்.

இத்திரட்டு திருஞானசம்பந்தரின் 10 பதிகங்கள், திருநாவுக்கரசரின் 8 பதிகங்கள் மற்றும் சுந்தரருடைய 7 பதிகங்களை உள்ளடக்கியதாகும். திருஞானசம்பந்தர்
