About this app

e-Toll adalah kartu elektronik yang digunakan untuk membayar biaya masuk jalan tol di sebagian daerah Indonesia.[1] Pengguna e-toll hanya perlu menempelkan kartu untuk membayar uang tol dalam waktu 4 detik, lebih cepat dibandingkan bila membayar secara tunai yang membutuhkan waktu 7 detik.[1] Penggunaan e-toll juga mengurangi biaya operasional karena hanya diperlukan biaya untuk mengumpulkan, menyetor, dan memindahkan uang tunai dari dan ke bank.[1] Selain menjadi langkah awal dalam modernisasi pengumpulan uang, penggunaan e-toll juga dimaksudkan untuk mengurangi pelanggaran (moral hazard) karena petugas tol tidak menerima pembayaran secara langsung.[2]

E-toll menggunakan sistem RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) memungkinkan transaksi dapat dilakukan jarak jauh.

Kartu ini dikeluarkan oleh kerjasama PT Jasa Marga Tbk, PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk, Bank Mandiri, dan PT Marga Mandala Sakti.[2] Pada tahap awal (Januari 2009), kartu ini hanya dapat digunakan di tiga jalur tol yaitu Cawang-Tomang-Cengkareng, Cawang-Tanjung Priok-Pluit, dan Cikupa-Merak.[3] Rencananya, kartu ini akan diaplikasikan untuk pembayaran bahan bakar di pom bensin dan sebagai alat pembayaran di area peristirahatan (rest area) tol.[4]
Pada Juni 2017 juga disosialisasikan, seluruh transaksi di gerbang tol menggunakan e-toll yang akan dimulai pada Oktober 2017, untuk mengurangi kemacetan saat antrean dan langkah selanjutnya dalam modernisasi (mempermudah dan mempercepat) pembayaran.
