About this app

This app has been developed for the students of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering (MERE) subjects at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. It is intended to take the viewer on a journey back in time to observe the conditions and processes responsible for the formation of coal. A series of 360-degree animated videos are presented which place you inside the environment where organic material is being generated, buried and through the stages of compaction. These stages occur with the presence of heat and time to take coal through the ranks of Lignite, to Bituminous, and then to Anthracite, the highest quality of coal.
