About this app

Surat At-Tin (Arabic: التين‎, "The Fig, The Figtree") is the ninety-fifth sura of the Qur'an with 8 ayat. This surah is positioned in Para 30 which is also known as Juz Amma (Juz' 30).

Placement & Coherence with other surahs:
The idea of textual relation between the verses of a chapter has been discussed under various titles such as nazm and munasabah in non-English literature and coherence, text relations, intertextuality, and unity in English literature. Hamiduddin Farahi, an Islamic scholar of the Indian subcontinent, is known for his work on the concept of nazm, or coherence, in the Quran (Qur'an / Quraan). Fakhruddin al-Razi , Zarkashi and several other classical as well as contemporary Quranic scholars have contributed to the studies. This surah belongs to the last(7th) group of surahs which starts from Surah Al-Mulk and runs till the end of the Quran (Al-Quran / Al-Qur'an). According to Javed Ahmad Ghamidi
The theme of this group is Warning the leadership of the Quraysh of the consequences of the Hereafter, and delivering glad tidings to Muhammad (sws) of the supremacy of the truth in Arabia. This theme gradually reaches its culmination through the arrangement of various surahs in this group.

Phase From To Central theme
I Al-Mulk Al-Jinn Indhar (Warning)

II Al-Muzzammil Al-Inshirah Indhar-i ‘am (Augmented Warning)

III At-Teen Quraysh (surah) Itmam al-Hujjah (Conclusive Communication of the Truth)

IV Al-Ma'un Al-Ikhlas Hijrah and Bara’ah (Migration and Acquittal)

V Al-Falaq Al-Nas The Conclusion/The End

Explanation:
The sura starts with three oaths; When Quran (Mushaf / Koran) presents an oath, there is a response (jawab) which is related to the oath. That is the central message of the surat. So without understanding the oath and its response, the message of the sorah cannot be fully understood. In Classical Arabic, a location would be called by what it was famous for. So fig and olive can refer to two locations. Fig refers to Mount Judi where Prophet Nuh's Ark landed while At-Teen referring to Prophet Noah, the location where his Ark ship landed, az-Zaytoon referring to Jesus who was born in Palestine where olives grow or Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. These Oaths are Referring to the 2 fruits and also their locations. So the idea that fig and olive refers to both fruit and location was a view of the Sahabah and their early students. According to Ruh al-Ma'ani by Mahmud al-Alusi The intent by naming 2 fruits is to mention 2 mountains from the Holy land of Palestine.

1. Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: Whoever recites Surah Teen in his obligatory and recommended prayers would be given a place in Paradise of his liking, if Allah wills.

2. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: Allah would give two qualities: Forgiveness and certainty. When he dies Allah would give him reward of fasting days equal to the number of times he recited it.
The holy Prophet (S) is narrated to have said:
"Allah will endow, in this world, the two qualities of safety and certainty to the person who recites it (Surah Tin). and when he dies, He will give him rewards equal to the reward of fasting one day (multiplied) by the number of all those who have recited this Surah.”

i) Whoso recites this surah in his obligatory and supererogatory salats Allah would send him to paradise.
ii) Whoso recites this surah would receive reward from Allah, inshallah, beyond his imagination; he would be treated like a sahabi (companion) of the Holy Prophet; and he would live in paradise happy and fully satisfied.
iii) If this surah is recited over the food before eating Allah would not let any harmful ingredient in it does any harm to the eater, even if it contains lethal poison.
