About this app

Engineering mechanics is the application of mechanics to solving problems involving general engineering elements. This application was created to help you learn to understand the basics of engineering mechanics. In general the aim of this Engineering Mechanics course is to expose students to problems in mechanics as they are applied to plausible real-world scenarios. Problems of certain types are explored in detail with the hope that students will gain an inductive understanding of the underlying principles in the workplace; students should then be able to recognize these kinds of problems in real-world situations and respond to them.

Furthermore, this application aims to support the learning of Engineering Mechanics with theoretical material, general key techniques, and a number of examples of problems solved to fulfill the first objective as described above.

Differences between branches of physics

As you can see in the diagram, mechanics is the first and most fundamental branch of physics, which supports Thermodynamics and Electricity, and includes Statics, Dynamics (= Kinematics + kinetics); all of which are highly applicable in engineering. but the most important part of them is statics (study of the body at rest) which is not only the basis for everything else, but also has the highest engineering application. Physics also involves optics, waves, quantum, and relativity theories, which do not yet have fundamental engineering applications.
