Berikut ini adalah sedikit ulasan mengenai hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan Imam Syafi’i dan Madzhab Syafi’iy. Semoga bisa memberikan wawasan yang mencerahkan mengenai madzhab Syafi’i.
A. Siapakah Imam Syafi’i?

Imam Syafi’i (w. 204 H) adalah salah satu imam besar dari imam 4 madzhab yang ada. Bahkan beliau adalah seorang imam besar yang ahli al-Qur’an, ahli Hadits, ahli Ushul Fiqih, ahli Fiqih dan ahli Bahasa yang terkemuka di masanya.

Imam Nawawi (w. 676 H) mengatakan bahwa nama lengkap Imam Syafi’i adalah Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Idris bin al-Abbas bin Utsman bin Syafi’ bin as-Sa’ib bin Ubaid bin Abdi Yazid bin Hasyim bin al-Mutthalib bin Abdi Manaf bin Qushai.1

Imam adz-Dzahabi (w. 748 H) mengatakan bahwa Imam Syafi’i lahir di Gaza (palestina) pada tahun 150H. 2 Imam as-Suyuti (w. 911 H) juga mengatakan beliau lahir di Gaza tahun 150 H dan wafat tahun 204 H.3

Imam Ibnu Katsir (w. 774 H) mengatakan bahwa nasab Imam Syafi’i bertemu dengan nasabnya Rasulullah SAW pada Abdi Manaf bin Qushai.4 Jadi ternyata Imam Syafi’i memiliki nilai yang tinggi dan keunggulan yang hebat dari segi nasab.
