About this app

無量壽經，為淨土群經綱要，是專門說阿彌陀佛西方極樂世界種種勝境法門。本中英雙語有聲電子書乃取材澳洲淨宗學院所編譯【世界宗教是一家】其中所節錄的『佛說大乘無量壽莊嚴清淨平等覺經』進行製作。
佛、釋迦牟尼、阿彌陀，都是梵語(印度國的話)。佛：是『覺』字，就是覺悟。釋迦：是『能仁』兩字，就是能夠大慈大悲，救度一切眾生的意思。牟尼：是『寂默』兩個字；寂是寂靜不動，默是本性相合的意思。阿彌陀：是『無量』，無是沒有，量是限量。因為這一尊佛身上的光明，同了他的壽命一樣，都是沒有限量的，所以稱無量壽佛。無量壽佛就是阿彌陀佛。無量壽佛經也是釋迦牟尼佛所說的一部佛經，是專門說阿彌陀佛西方極樂世界種種勝境法門。
阿彌陀佛本是一位國王，聽了世自在王佛的講演，覺得學佛法有種種的利益。所以就拋棄了王位，跟了世自在王佛出家修行，法名叫法藏此丘 (藏是收藏積聚，就是諸佛所藏積的一切功德)。法藏此丘在世自在王佛面前，發過四十八個大願。如果成了佛，要現出一個很清淨、很莊嚴、沒有種種苦、只有西方極樂的世界。現在阿彌陀佛已經成佛了，所以阿彌陀佛的大願，當然沒有不應驗的了。
