About this app

This is a 3D model of developing human/vertebrate brain with corresponding patterning process mapped onto the surface. Neurodevelopment is an extremely dynamic process in which massive structural and qualitative/quantitative changes occur. This complex process is tightly controlled by choreographed expressions of specific transcription factors induced by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors of the cells. This model strives to provide a holistic overview of such process from Carnegie Stage 1 to Stage 23 (roughly E9.5 to E16 in mice, pcw 2 to pcw 6 in humans).

In future updates, the model will include patterning process of the apical surface of the neural tube and its neighboring regions. This can help the users understand how specific neural substrates come to be. In subsequent updates, the model will also include the name tags of anatomical features as well as the map of morphogens that induce the regional patterning.
