This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Bella Runes Portal on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

About this app

What is Bella Runes Portal?

The app “Bella Runes Portal” is a site-specific public art work made by artist Bella Rune, produced by Västerås Art museum for Västerås municipality. The app is built and programmed by Jonas Lythell. The app is free to download and use and no purchase can be made in, or through, the app. The art consists of monumental AR sculptures made from digitalised materials which make up the city, like bricks, waste baskets and sewage grids.

The app does not collect personal data directly from user or third party. No user information is saved or shared using the Android/iPhone apps.

Analysis of app usage

When in use the app request use of the camera and gps location in order for the VR art to be visible. The app does not require internet access in order to operate. The camera is only used by the app while it is active to show virtual objects and disappears after you close the app. The user can choose to save screen shots to their images and permission will be requested for the user to save to their gallery, but images cannot be accessed by us or any third party.
