Does not work ever. Great speaker rendered worthless by an useless app. If Riva is incapable of making their own app work, they should hire someone to build an app that works and have them sell it to those of us that are stuck with their speakers. I would pay for something that works

Horrible app, Extremely glitchy. I have three festivals, it is almost impossible keeping all in sync. Most of the time all three speakers won't show up on the app, please change the slider for volume, to number increments. The manual claims you can set speakers up for right and left channels, you cannot. I spent a lot of money on these speakers, I fear now that they have made the same model with Amazon Alexa support, we are being left behind. Looking at sonos now.

The actual Riva Festival speaker is excellent. The app, not so much. There is never a problem casting to the speaker with any music app or from the computer. The speaker is always recognized by google home. The Riva app, however, almost always says no speaker found. This is particularly annoying when you want to adjust the input source without having to physically go over to the speaker and cycle through them using the button. At this point it makes me wonder why they even bothered with the app. I am hopeful, however, that future updates will make this potentially useful app of more use.

The app is basically terrible IMO. If you are using a single speaker with a single controlling device, the maybe it is ok. But I use an Android phone, my wife does too and I frequently use an iPad too, all of which are used to both control and play music from. Basically in this scenario it simply does not work. Let's get the bugs out of the way first. It is not possible to power the speaker off. Let me repeat that. You cannot power the speaker off. It will enter standby after 15 mins of inactivity however. The app itself is frequently is out of sync with what the speaker is actually playing. This means if I am playing something from the server, the device with which I have initiated this will be mostly correct, however I then use my wife's phone, it will show something else. It is also not possible to pause/start from a 2nd device. As soon as you pause the stream is lost effectively. If I use the original device to pause, then yes I can un-pause again. Does this sound inconsistent and barely usable, yes it is. Let me just go aback to my initial complaint... Because you cannot power off the device from within the app, I have often been unable to stop playback depending on which controller I was using. As such I would have to physically get up and hit the button on top. Ah you say, there is a 'stop streaming' button. Here's the thing, it only showed up some of the time! On my android device I was completely unable to play back from local content. Simply did not work. Use my wife's phone, worked fine. There is also a 'scan for devices' button. You will need to use this all the time due to the app being out of sync. Maybe if you hit this say 15times it will correctly reflect what the speaker is actually playing. Maybe not. I often had to force close the app. Upon starting again the app will then show the correct info. Basically borderline unusable IMO. Use the Chromecast option works fine though, as does AirPlay. Sonif you only use these options and a single phone, then great as the speaker itself does sound very nice... Just the app is really atrocious. I'm surprised so many seem to think it is ok. This is a very expensive device and it simply does not work for the purpose it's designed for IMO

The app is shite, along with any software developed by this company. If you have a speaker that is over 3yrs old they will not update the apps, to coincide with a new OS on your phone. E.G.Riva S.

Glaring shortcoming with the way this app handles USB source. There is no way to play all files in a folder without adding each one individually to the queue. Should be able to reorder the queue via drag-and-drop but it only seems to do the drag part. All other features work fine but please developers give some better controls and playlist management for file source.
