About this app

Unlike donated blood that lasts for approximately 30 days, platelets have a very short lifespan and can be preserved for only 5 days. Platelets are essential components of blood and lack/deficiency of platelets can lead to severe life-threatening bleeding. In India, Dengue epidemics are very well known causes of diseases affecting the general population on a mass scale, leading to a reduced platelet count and the associated medical complications like bleeding and even death. Every year or two, there is a mayhem to find platelet donors during the peaks of such epidemics. In fact, as per government data (NCVBDC), there were nearly 200,000 Dengue cases in 2021.

This app aims to help patients in dire need of platelets by connecting them to willing donors. On the app, willing platelet donors can register, providing their general location. Nearby healthcare facilities or hospitals who have registered with us will have access to this information and may contact the registered donors in times of need. This is a non-profit initiative, and is purely for social benefit.
