Great Wall Elite (referred as GW Elite) is a national-level overseas publicity channel established under the approval of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) and CITVC. As the flagship channel of Great Wall TV, it aims to provide overseas Chinese with “true, multi-dimensional and panoramic” view of China, Chinese culture and Chinese achievements. GW Elite is officially launched in September 24, 2018. GW Elite Application is also officially released at the same time.
GW Elite aims to global Chinese-speaking audience. The channel airs on a 24hr schedule, debuts 8hrs.The channel features content that shows the best of traditional and modern Chinese culture. GW Elite is packed with quality content from CCTV and Great Wall TV member channels. It has also acquired copyrights for popular Chinese TV series and documentaries, as well as great programs from China Radio, Film & Television Programs Exchanging Center, including cultural and geographical programs, classic variety shows, sports events and cartoons. In addition, GW Elite arranges 4K Ultra HD section aired throughout the day from Mon to Sun, which mainly consists of original short documentaries tailored for overseas Chinese.
The content of GW Elite will be divided into twelve sections, namely the 4K section, China News, Exploring China, About Traditional Chinese Medicine, Touch China, Chinese Style, Great Wall Cinema, Elite Documentaries, Sports World, Kid’s Time and The China Vibe.
GW Elite is more than just a satellite TV channel; it is also devoted to media convergence. It employs various methods such as merging TV and internet as well as combining live streaming and video clips to create an omni media presence.
GW Elite is firstly broadcasted on Dish Network and SlingTV in the United States, and covers countries such as Laos, Cambodia and Australia. In the future, it will gradually expand to North America, such as Canada and Mexico, as well as Europe and Africa.
