About this app

grafolino is a new, holistic teaching and learning system to develop handwriting that suits this era of cultural change.

The concept is supplemented by methodological support and guidance, embracing the development of handwriting at pre-school age through to mature, individual adult writing.

This teaching and learning system can be deployed either in the school setting or at home, in the private sphere.

grafolino exploits the benefits of the digital age, but without overlooking the sound advantages of learning to write.

This app guides pupils through the movements essential to handwriting at three levels: learning, training and tests. When starting out, a switch allows you to decide whether to work in UK or American English.

In addition, the pupil can indicate whether he/she will write using the left or right hand. All films, training courses and tests are adapted to suit these precepts.

The educational films associate the sequence of movements for a given character to its sound. Their action is calm and well focused. The films appeal to pupils at the emotional level. A summarizing sentence will illustrate the characters already learnt in use.

Your hand can take up the training with a pen or finger to suit your own inclination. A green mark confirms the movement, while red indicates that something isn’t correct. Characters can be repeated at will.

In tests 1 and 2, which have varying degrees of difficulty, it is shown how much has been learnt. The number of attempts and the correct movements sequences are displayed on completing that set of tests. Keeping pace will trigger a reward.

The ‘my pad‘ writing-pad and multi-colour notebooks, which are thematically adapted to suit the educational films, facilitate instant transfer of what has been learnt onto paper.

The eBook «grafolino Module 1» is an interactive commentary with methodological guidance on work using the app and notebooks. The topics mentioned there supplement the digital domain and turn the instruction on writing into a holistic experience that makes teaching and learning a pleasure.

Additional modules will be (all digital):

Module 2: Fluent Handwriting
Module 3: Handwriting – A Medium of Communication
Module 4: Teaching Handwriting
