#TypszPlnsz is an interactive poster campaign which aims to deepen cultural understanding between Germany and Poland and to counter prejudices held in each country about the other.
The #TypzPlnsz app is the core component of the campaign and provides access to augmented reality, a moving visual expansion of posters experienced through smartphones and tablets. The app presents short portraits of outstanding Polish-German and Polish personalities and expert statements on aspects of Polish and German culture and society, which expand on the poster content. Short didactic questions are also part of the app and provide an accessible introduction to this complex topic.
The posters will be displayed in central locations across Berlin from 12th October to 4th November 2018, reaching a wide audience. Parallel to the poster campaign and app, the campaign will run on social media channels like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter under the hashtag #TypszPlnsz. We strongly encourage participation in the campaign. Participants can use the hashtag #TypszPlnsz to post content, such as photos of posters, drawings, videos or statements they consider to be »typically Polish« and »typically German«. Participants in the campaign can win prizes, and selected entries will be published in the app.
A separate booklet completes the campaign. It will be presented on 19th and 21th October 2018 at the Friends with Books fair at Hamburger Bahnhof (Berlin).
#TypszPlnsz is a project by www.schoolofobservation.com with the support of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb). The project is itself the winner of a bpb competition, which was held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the independence of Poland. The German Poland Institute (DPI) was instrumental in developing the content; The initiatives PolenMobil and the DPI’s »Polen in der Schule« are supporting the campaign by distributing its material in schools throughout Germany.
For more information, visit www.schoolofobservation.com. Teachers can order the posters in a smaller format and the booklet as teaching material via typszplnsz@schoolofobservation.com.
