This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Boxwood Blight Infection Risk Model v0.93 on PC Windows and Mac.

About this app

Based on scientific research and USDA PPQ research support, we are providing a free app version of the Boxwood Blight model at http://uspest.org/risk/models?mdl=bxwd_s . This is a first or pre-release version that we will test with a select audience of scientists and potential users of the app. To use the app, you will need a weather station code that you can pick after entering a place name or zip code. You can also change the start date and span of days (both optional). If a forecast is available, then using the default start date should include a 5 to 7 day forecast of blight risk. Generally it must be raining and of moderate temperatures for infection risk to be high. Also you must have a source of the disease present nearby (and a susceptible variety including "English" and several other varieties of boxwood) for infection to occur. The model output gives you a choice of a graph and a table, both with color-coded risk levels and descriptive labels for risk. No particular fungicide recommendations are being made at this time; that is entirely your call. Use at your own risk. Developed at Oregon State University IPPC by the people who bring you the "http://uspest.org/wea" website.
