This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Ecoplan Gent on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.

About this app

Ecoplan Gent helps you find shops, restaurants and service providers in Gent that focus on fair trade and bio products, reuse of materials or regional produce, ecology and social measures… All these businesses are marked as Ecopoints on the map. One can search for specific labels (currently Dutch only, but it should be manageable) (fairtrade, bio, ecovriendelijk, vegetarisch, …) or categories (Dutch, bit more difficult) (wereldwinkel, eet- en drankgelegenheden, kledingswinkel, …) and the app will show where to find these shops.

The app uses Open Data that is available at http://data.gent.be/datasets/ecoplan. Internet access is not required as the data is copied to a local database. The data is updated regularly by the association supporting the Ecoplan Gent .

To update the data as well as refresh the google maps, you need Internet access.
