About this app

The nursery rhyme has become viralized, saturated the Internet and the neural circuits of young children all over the world. It is the latest trend in pop culture to captivate a young audience, perhaps the youngest, driven by YouTube music videos that have accumulated more than three billion hits.

The melody itself is not exactly new: it began as a simple lullaby more than 20 years ago, a song to be sung in schoolyards and summer camps. In 2015, it was reinvented as a series of music videos from the Korean children's entertainment brand Pinkfong. The most popular version features a line of cartoon marine creatures alongside Korean children who sing and dance to it.

For the youngest fans of the song, it is an irresistible and fantastic delight. For children's entertainment vendors, it's another leap toward the globalization of child consumerism: preschool hypnotists who constantly look at tablets and phones.

The song has been a huge success for Pinkfong and its parent company, SmartStudy, which has created more than 100 Baby Shark-based videos. The most popular version has already been viewed more than 2.6 billion times on Pinkfong's YouTube channel, according to Jamie Oh, director of global marketing and partnerships at SmartStudy.

The song, translated into 11 languages, has climbed to the top of iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play and Amazon. It has also inspired home videos under the hashtag #BabySharkChallenge, where people record themselves performing the song and dance.

Famous parents have also joined the fashion. References to Baby Shark have appeared on the social networks of Jimmy Fallon, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, Tyra Banks and Kylie Jenner. Those publications widely seen on Twitter and Instagram gave another boost to the song's worldwide popularity.

With this application you can play it over and over again in small 27-second increments by clicking on the baby shark and watching the Baby Shark dance.

Lyrics:

Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Baby shark!
