About this app

This app contains a written discourse on the Principles of Freemasonry, excerpted from The Masonic Advocate by L. Carroll Judson (1850). The author expounds on Masonry's foundational interrelationship with religious faith, ethics, and upstanding moral principles, emphasizing that "the Bible is the Word of Truth and the great Light of Masonry." In addition to "the majesty and power of God", topics touched upon include: the Entered Apprentice, Fellow-Craft, and Master Mason Degrees; the Four Cardinal Virtues of Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, and Justice; the primary tenets of Charity, Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth; the Five Orders of Architecture - Tuscan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, and Composite; the five human senses; the liberal arts and sciences; and the duties of a Freemason. The author wished to emphasize the divinely inspired and ethical occupation of the free and accepted Mason.
