Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Family Faces on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

About this app

This app helps users recognize and understand ​facial expressions of family and friends. Rather than being restricted to learning facial expressions from photos of unknown individuals, this app allows you to take pictures of anyone you like!

Some of the features include:
- You can take up to 5 photos of 5 different people
- Fully customizable appearance (black text on white background, vice versa, as well as black text on sepia background! You can also change the colours of the buttons!
- Password protected settings for additional security!
- The photos you take are stored within your device, no need to upload anything. You don't even need an internet connection to use this app!

This application is the result of a collaborative, participatory project. The project engaged family members of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the development of the tablet application. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the significance of family input in customizing tablet applications that meet their children's diverse needs.
