About this app

Jigenglish is a puzzle when used by a single person or family/group. The answer words are taken from a list of useful English words. When there are more persons present it can be played as a game where each person or team tries to think of the answer first. When the clue language English is chosen a clue of its form - noun, adjective, verb etc is given. Persons with an interest in an included foreign language may choose between the several sets of clues in that language.
I hope that the App will be enjoyable for a wide age range of people, also assisting in remembering words, their spellings and their associated memories. It may be possible to develop word lists, and possibly illustrations, to assist stroke victims and those with a mental illness such as dementia. When used with an Android TV Jigenglish could be used in a teaching situation.
A dropdown menu enables you to select a clue language for a clue (often the translation of the anagram). This is displayed in the red field. Each tap of the red field helps to solve the puzzle by dislaying subsequent letters of the randomly selected word.
The yellow field may be tapped to show the complete answer word or pressed to cause the answer word to be spoken.
When a green level button is tapped next the previous clue, anagram and answer are added to a History list, accessed by scrolling the display up. To delete the History list you Press the red field.
Scrolling below the History list you will see a Glossary list of the complete list of clues and answer words currently in use.
The Language dropdown list also has selectins for the user to enter his own clue and answer word - the answer word then being jumbled and entered in the red field. The History adds these 'DIY' puzzles to the History list as described.
The English answer word list of over 1,200 words Is used when languages French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish are selected. Shorter lists of between 150 and 200 words is used for Chinese and Greek. Further languages and improved word lists may be added in future versions.

New features

This is a First Edition of word puzzles in English with a choice of Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish for clues. Automatic orientation added 14 December 2018. When a level of difficulty is chosen a word is selected at random and its letters are jumbled and displayed, together with the clue. Users may write the letters down to assist in solving the word or may display the answer word one letter at a time. The answer word can also be spoken or displayed.
