وسمي المسيح الدجال بالمسيح لأنه ممسوح العين وبالدجال نسبة إلى الدجل وهو التمويه والتغطية فهو يموه على بعض الناس بما معه من مخاريق. فالمسيح الدجال من أعظم الفتن التي يفتن الناس بها فهو يدعي الربوبية وقد حذر الأنبياء أممهم من فتنة المسيح الدجال
