About this app

In der DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) der 1980er Jahre tauchten mit den Bürgerrechtlern und Umweltschützern, Friedensaktivisten und politischen Christen, kritischen Künstlern und Punks eine Vielzahl oppositioneller Gruppen auf. Sie trafen sich in Privaträumen und Kirchen und begehrten gegen das stalinistische Regime der SED (Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands) auf. Begünstigt durch die Reformen Michail Gorbatschows in der Sowjetunion brach im Sommer 1989 eine Ausreisewelle los. Im Herbst desselben Jahres spitzte sich die politische Situation schließlich zu.

Im ganzen Land forderten DDR-Bürger bei den Montagsdemonstrationen Freiheitsrechte und demokratische Mitbestimmung. Zentrum der Protestbewegung war Leipzig, wo am 9. Oktober 1989 Zehntausende gewaltlos demonstrierten – der Anfang vom Ende der Diktatur. Am 4. November 1989 kam es auch auf dem zentralen Ostberliner Alexanderplatz zu einer Großdemonstration. Fünf Tage später fiel die Mauer.


Die Tour führt an Orte in Mitte, Friedrichshain, Lichtenberg und Treptow, die einen Einblick in die Geschichte der DDR-Opposition geben. Startpunkt ist der Alexanderplatz. Die Orientierung ist über die integrierte Karte möglich.

Es ist ratsam, die Tour mit einem aufgeladenen Akku zu starten. Der Internetzugang des Smartphones muss gegeben sein.
