About this app

How can mathematics ever be fun? When it's a game! Make progress and unlock new levels as your skill increases. This app is aimed at primary school children, or ages 5 to 15 years.

Some preliminary adult guidance may be needed.

Develop the skill of holding a number in mind while being occupied with another task, counting down the animals. This is the skill known as Anzan. This short term memory skill is critical not just to performing mathematical calculations, but also in other activities requiring acumen, for example essay writing, computer programming and debating.

Notice the format emulates modern algebra: a coefficient precedes the variable. In other words, a number is followed by an image one of the Australia's iconic animals.

As a novelty, each number is represented by a piano note. Have you ever learnt to add by sound?
