Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing UDPonG - Pong for 2 phones! on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

About this app

This is our own version of the retro game pong!

It uses two phones for a large screen and lets you play with a friend.

It is a work-in-progress game which is still in development and will be constantly updated to add new features and squash those bugs XD.

-Instructions-
1. One player type in the IP Address displayed on the other players phone
2. Second player make sure the ping displayed on the first players phone is the same and then tap "Yes"
3. Enjoy

-Next update will (probably) have-
* Finished in-game stuff (Points, winner/lose etc...)
* In game pause menu
* Improved countdown
* General bug fixes
* Allow user to choose colour (we're British) scheme
* Options (game mode, max score)
* Option to set display DPI (Dots Per Inch) to make text the right size on smaller displays
* App will return to main menu if you press the home button and then open th eapp again without clearing it from app switcher
* Less messy layout (improved aesthetics)
* Better button shapes/sizes
-Potential new Features-

* Add colour schemes (Including allowing the user to create colour schemes)
* Allow you to use another device to increase screen space
* New control schemes for moving the paddle
* New game modes e.g. mirrored, co-op etc...

-Bugs-
* Occasionally the app crashes, could be related to UDP
* Text is small on devices with a low resolution, working on a fix using the DPI to set text size

-Note-

This game is still in early development, we have released it so the people can follow the development process and give feedback to help us make it better, we understand that it may not work on your phone and can crash quite easily.
We are constantly working to improve it and make sure that you get the best experience.
