About this app

UNICEF in the State of Palestine (UNICEF-SoP) works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. UNICEF-SoP objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential.

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the largest non-governmental organization for children’s aid in Switzerland. It undertakes to support the most vulnerable members of society through child protection projects. Tdh has been implementing developmental and emergency relief programs in different countries and currently has operations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Funded by Tdh Innovation Department and UNICEF, Natheef/Natheefa App is intended to cover wide range of issues such as personal hygiene-with special emphasis on menstrual hygiene-, changes during puberty, healthy diet, and physical activity. Using Natheef/Natheefa App, adolescent girls and boys will play individually and in teams and will actively participate in changing practices and attitudes related to growth changes.

The content of Natheef and Natheefa App is based on Menstrual Hygiene Management in Emergencies toolkit developed by Columbia University and International Rescue Committee and co-published by Tdh and 24 other agencies. The content of the Natheef/Natheefa App is also based on the Adolescent Health Manual developed by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and publications from different prestigious organizations such as World Health Organization and UNICEF.
