I love the concept but the implementation is slightly off. It feels as if the pawns don't reveal squares consistently, squares remain visible after pieces move away, and revealed squares are evaluated at the start of the player turn meaning if the piece that was just moved is captured then no new sqares are revealed. That being said, still the best dark chess game I've seen yet.

Disappointingly, it will not connect to their server for online games as of 3/30/18. I first bought the paid version hoping to play dark chess online with my son, but neither of us could connect. Message is, " Connection failed. Please check your settings." I got a refund and installed the free version thinking maybe that had been updated. Alas, no. I realize dark chess is sort of a niche game and servers aren't free, but this looked so promising. I'm giving it 1 star not because I hate it, but because it simply won't work for online 2 player.

I love the "dark chess" variant. This is best dark chess app so far. BUT ... getting online is weird ..Im not sure what to do and frankly a bit scared to try? Do we use our Google login? It feels sketchy using the current custom weirdo keyboard input for login info (which makes me feel like it could steal login info). Why can't it simply log in using Google with one click?? The gameplay itself is great though. Like I said.. its the only decent dark chess app. Just in case the developers are truly interested in the project here is a "wishlist" which I think would make the game literally the best, with no potential competition (for now) on both android and IOS . i know I would be willing to pay for if released as a premium product if it had these features. 1. Wish you could mess with rule settings.. things like turn off whether or not you can see if your pieces are under attack.. or setting that makes the opponents king and/or queen always visible would be neat. 2. A "Dark chess 960" variant or "Dark Crazyhouse" or even a "Dark Crazy-house 960" would be insanely challenging and fun. 3. Somehow plugging the AI into the open Stockfish server would make the AI off the charts great like lichess is. 4. Make the online play easy and less "sketchy" by using Google one click login rather than the confusing stuff that's there currently. 5. Dont make it go back to home screen if we leave the app.. just continue where I left off..(who really wants to go back to the home screen mid game anyways??).. also a quicker way to resign a game would be really great. 6. Rename it to "Dark Chess Varants" it'll put you to the top of the app store for people searching for "chess variants" and give you more exposure. All that would make me wanna purchase for even 5-10 bucks since there would be literally no other competition for it anywhere!! I think you guys are on to a real niche here. Just my two cents
