The game is fun enough, but you can't say you haven't tweaked it. I've had it downloaded for about two years now and the original was spot on to the game I played on an Apple IIe in the 80s. I could build up to 100s of guns, play well into the 1900s and score massively. I can still score decently well, but the imbalance of attacking ships to my limited ability to obtain guns is not a representation of the original game.

Free, No Ads, Extremely Fun. This is getting 5 stars because its completely free. There is a hanplay issue or two, specifically around the Li Yuen Pirate interactions that I dislike. They always seem to run off a major fleet in about to beat (thus making me earn nothing whole still having a damaged ship and missing guns. Also, there should be a grace period added for the lieutenant and when the pirates turn hostile. I CONSTANTLY lose the game because the pirates attack me immediately.

Good dose of nostalgia. Very accurate to the original TRS-80 version. But, every time I play this I want to remove a star. The Spanish Freakin' Armada had 130 ships. That intercontinental, colonial power went toe to toe with England with a meager 130 warships. But a junk boat riding, extortionist gangster, Li Yuen, comes after me with 430 ships. Just ruins gameplay. Delete.

Seems quite faithful to the original. And that means trouble buying guns, unfair battles against hordes of pirates and nasty random events. This might be annoying to some, but that is exactly how I remember the original. Ads are rare and non invasive. Nice job.

The second computer game I ever played, and the first that I actually enjoyed! Thank you so much for bringing this classic to Android! Takes me back to middle school and noisy floppy drives.

It's not set like the original game. Pirates attack with 3 to 4 times the original numbers, hit your guns sometimes with each attack. Li Yuen's pirates often drive off attackers when you have less than 5 attackers left which robs you of any loot you might have won. Li Yuen often asks for more in donation than you have which puts you into debt.
