Top option give 2 upgrades, first is damage and security on is meso multiplier. The bottom option give 2 buttons, first is monster upgrade(up to +3) and second is upgrade monster(must be +3). I suggest staying on first monster till you can boost damage up quite a bit.

The top button is Damage/Mesos and the bottom button is Enhancement/Monster upgrading. +3 is the max you can go. The next is upgrading to the next monster.
