The PHNIX Trident is a cool drone to start with, for many the 5 minute flight charge and 4 minute fvp charge is conplainable, but i think a small drone like that is quite a fair one for a short obsticle race. As for the app, I'm happy that it lets me leave the controler at home when i visit friends but what I hate is that the app crashes and corrupts an ongoing recording when the feed is lost from the drone. There is a common problem wifi wise in the city, signal interferance delay by range.
