About this app

The Sudoku Helper App is designed to solve, analyze and explain 9 x 9 puzzles. It is now updated to include a library of thousands of built-in puzzles that you can select by difficulty or by specific technique.

You can solve the puzzles yourself in the usual way but, if you ever need some help, the app provides several tools to assist you. These include displaying the remaining valid values for a cell, an active number pad and an advanced analysis engine that can recommend and explain moves both visually and in detailed text.


Features include:

- over 8,000 pre-loaded puzzles that can be selected by difficulty or specific solving technique

- Support for loading puzzles found in newspapers, web sites etc

- No internet connection required once Sudoku Helper is installed

- Save and restore puzzles to your device, including an SD card, at any time.

- Full Undo/Redo

- Return to the start point at any time

- "One swipe" switching between Manual and Automatic modes

- Optionally display the remaining valid values for a cell

- The Number Pad can also optionally indicate which values are valid

- Ability to prevent the screen dimming so you can take your time

- Logical analysis of a puzzle to indicate difficulty, number of moves remaining, techniques required etc

- Visual indication of the recommended next move along with a detailed explanation in words

- A "Shuffle Current Game" feature should you want to add an extra challenge!

- A "brute force" solver that ensures a puzzle has only one solution

All built-in puzzles have been tested to ensure they can be solved by Sudoku Helper. The Helper should also be able to solve puzzles from almost all other sources but is not intended to solve the most complex of puzzles offered by specialist Sudoku sources - if you have reached that level you probably don't need any help!

Finally, the app displays a lot of detail in the grid display and the analysis text so is best suited to tablets and phones with larger screens. If in doubt though, give it a try - it's free.

There are no adverts or subscriptions in Sudoku Helper, but we do request your feedback on any problems, ideas for new features (e.g. improved Solver rules) or just whether you find it helpful. Feedback can be emailed from the About menu inside the app.
