About this app

For students, teenagers and adults interested in math, geometry and science, here is a logic game which will let you understand and internalize knowledge of higher-dimensional objects like, for example, a tesseract.

Swipe left, right, up, or down to shift all objects in a 4x4 table in one direction. Similar objects merge to form a new object with 1 more dimension. E.g. dots (zero dimensions) merge into a line (one dimension), lines merge into a square, squares into a cube, cubes into a four-dimensional hypercube called "tesseract", tesseracts merge into a 5-dimensional hypercube (penteract). In general, two N-dimensional hypercubes create one (N+1)-dimensional hypercube. See how far your can get. Btw the number of vertices in the object is 2^N (two power N, or 2 multiplied by 2 N times). E.g. 1024 is 2 power 10, or 2*2*2*2.. 10 times, 4096 = 2^12 etc. It's pretty difficult to reach such high-rank objects but you don't have to be a mathematician to be good at this game!

Unlike in many similar puzzle games out there, here a move isn't allowed if no piece would move. Because of this, the dominant strategy of always shifting in the same 2 directions (e.g. always right or up, to get the highest-ranking objects stack in the upper-right corner) won't work. See how long you survive and what ridiculously complex hypercubes you encounter.

We would recommend this game to lectures at a STEM university running a course in linear algebra (vector and matrix algebra, how vectors span spaces) or to high school teachers of mathematics (topic of power and logarithms), programming (binary arithmetics, multidimensional arrays), and physics (Einstein's relativity theory). The game is simple enough to even be understood by kids, not only mathematicians :) Apart from the educational effect, like most puzzles, this app is good to train spatial intelligence and increase IQ.
