I bought this for Gloomhaven and yes, it is completely unnecessary... and yet 100% necessary! I wasn't sure if it was worth the cost, but after the first use everyone in the group agreed that it was well worth the money and added quite a bit to the experience. The voice acting and sound effects are great, and when you couple that with some themed music (RPG tavern, travel, and dungeon on Youtube or Spotify), it really sets the mood. I highly recommend it!

Stop forcing me to rate it. 7/15/21 - Okay, it doesn't bug you to rate it constantly anymore. It's a pretty cool app. Great narrations. It has some small bugs, such as sometimes making you navigate all the way back to the story you were on if you switch out of the app.

This really enhances the Gloomhaven experience when it works. I loved most of the voice acting, but the app is petty garbage. Often the grafics don't load or the sound won't play. It's a 50/50 at best if you're going to get a working app during your play session. And yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app numerous times to no avail. I'd give this app a 1 or 2 star if it wasn't for the hard work of the voice actors. Please have a better product available for Frosthaven.

App looks like a IOS port, that doesn't really work well with Android (11 UI 3.1), for example android's "back" button doest really work in the app. Content itself is a paid audio-narrative additions to the games, the only thing that is included for free are the samples. Owning a boardgame game doesn't impact the price in any way. Last but not least, the audio-narrative itself is quite a let-down, at least for the Jaws of Lion. It is more of a casual theatrical act then immersive experience.

The voice acting is great and really adds to the experience but as others have mentioned, the app itself could use a fair amount of work. It's frustrating that when I return to the playlist to select another track, the page resets to the top and I have to scroll down to find the track again. Additionally, the app pauses if I leave it during playback and the Android notification drawer media controller is left there and difficult to dismiss. Overall I love what the app brings to the table but the experience could be vastly improved.

4 stars because the app does what it says. Buy the music for the game you want and it is available for use. Minus 1 star because App feels bare bones needs custom Playlists, in app purchases and pricing, cast feature or share with my group of 4. Robust account (profile management) not avatars real stuff like billing, purchase history, maybe subscription option for 1 or 2 dollars instead of the big one time 15 dollar packages. I still like the direction a lot though and I hope to see more.
