About this app

Getting High? is a fun, youth friendly game that gets youth to stop and think before they make a decision to use drugs.

Adults have been telling teens not to use drugs and alcohol for over 40 years but we all know that “Just Say No” doesn’t work because young people are still using them. Rather than overloading youth with health information, or trying to scare them, the “Getting High?” app supports youth to make healthy choices for themselves. It encourages self-reflection, models critical thinking skills and provides young people with the tools they need to take control of their own health and wellness.

In Getting High? Cal “The Wise Young Owl” takes players through a series of reflective questions that highlight important factors to consider before making a decision to use drugs or alcohol. Cal asks youth to think about things that people usually think about only after something goes wrong like:

• Reactions with other drugs
• What will they do if there is an emergency
• What is their reason for using the drug
• What is their mood/mental health like before and after they take the drug

“Getting High?” is a fun and non-threatening way to encourage youth to ask themselves the right questions before making significant decisions. Youth can learn skills that help them take control of their own bodies and make informed choices to stay happy, healthy and resilient.
