蝶やカブトムシなどが蛹(サナギ)と呼ばれる形態をとり、蛹から脱皮して成虫が現れる現象を「完全変態」と言います。
パッとしない平凡な人形が、世界一美しい人形になっていく様を、蛹が蝶になるのになぞらえて完全変態(カンゼンヘンタイ)と命名しました。
