Pacific theater with Marines and Army troops. Great game from a great developer. Joni Nuutinen is the best developer for the 21st century. All of his games are instant classics. These games harken back to the"Golden Age" of wargaming. Real strategy not just window dressing. His games take real planning and true military thought. Best games for the value.

This is one of my favorites of Mr. Nuutinen's games. Not many Pacific War games out there. Excellent game-play.

Since the last update you cannot set the difficulty level it is gone from options as is turning off the vibration when moving. Fix this please.

Love strategy games, but this is ridiculous. I have played 15 games now, and it still makes absolutely no sense. Took 3 games to figure out how to attack because the instructions on how to play are meaningless. Descriptions of units, but not how to use them. Units selected to move going to a different hex than chosen. Units unable to move for no apparent reason. Three US 6's with artillery and tank support losing to a single Japanese 6. Without a tutorial, this game is a waste of time. And I certainly would not spend money to buy one. You may have devoted following, but you are missing the larger audience. This might be why you have 100 downloads and only 7 reviews. ... everybody else gave up and just deleted it.

The Conflict Series is like the original Panzer General on steroids. Each game is a recreation of a major battle campaign. The last three releases have been over the top in coolness and challenge. Guadalcanal, Battle for Leyte Island, and now, Saipan. Joni is at the height of his powers as a strategy game developer.

About this app

This ia a free 20-turn-version of Battle of Saipan 1944, a turn based strategy game set on the Pacific theater during the Second World War.

Summer, 1944: You are in command of the mostly-Marine American task force with orders to seize the island of Saipan, so that it can be used as a base to launch B-29 air strikes against the Japanese home islands. The ensuing battle -- which included the U.S. 2nd Marine Division, 4th Marine Division, and the U.S. Army's 27th Infantry Division -- saw both the largest Japanese tank battle and the biggest banzai attack of the Pacific war.

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.
