This is a classic Joni Nuutinen game, and my only problems are just nitpicks. First of all, there are no artillery or air units, and traffic jams with all the units is a major problem. Also, the only Allied units are American, British, and Canadian ones. It would be nice to see the French Expeditionary Corps, the Polish II Corps, and the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, and the Italian Co-Belligerent Army.

A regiment/brigade-level sim of the 1943-45 Italian campaign. It's an early and less sophisticated offering in the Conflict Series, lacking artillery units, for instance. The mountainous peninsula doesn't give you much room to maneuver, and on lower difficulty, your main challenge is going to be performing traffic control because you're going to have a lot of units trying to get through a very restricted amount of space, with traffic jams driving up fatigue. This game is all right, but there are much better installments in the series and I'd recommend looking at those first.

Not sure what I do wrong but find myself constantly with exhausted troops. Even when they rest in a hospital they tire out?! Other version (North Africa) much better play.

Another great C-S turn based war game. Its fun and challenging, but i gave it four stars because its a slug fest up the Italian peninsula, with little room to maneuver (historically accurate, but boring compared to other scenarios in the series). Game includes leaders, province control, hospitals, and supply depots.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The Conflict Series hands down are the best wargames developed for Android devices. Joni re-creates the glory days of AH and SPI. When I left board gaming in the early 80s, I never thought any electronic game could capture the challenge and maintain the recreational value of such games. Joni does precisely this and Italy is a prime example. History notes added to the game are an additional benefit. Support this guy, he is the best.

Just a few turns in. So far so good! Really like the scale of Joni's last 3 campaigns 100 victory point formula. Get all his games on release. Actually made HOF in Crete!! Great game!

About this app

Allied Invasion of Italy 1943-1945 is a turn based strategy game set on the Mediterranean Theater during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011

You are in command of the Allied forces invading Italy, the so-called soft underbelly of Axis-held Europe. While the Italians didn't have too much fight left in them at this stage of the Second World War, the German armed forces threw in their mountain and paratrooper formations in the play, making the Allied progress in the middle of the mountain ranges, filled with fortified defense lines, painstakingly slow and costly.

The scenario includes the Allied Anzio Landing behind the main Allied front line, and one of the first goals for the player is to link up the two attacks.

"The Italian campaign was a bloody stalemate, but it was also a necessary diversion to keep the Germans from concentrating their forces elsewhere."
- Field Marshal Sir Alan Brooke, Chief of the Imperial General Staff

FEATURES:

+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup.

+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.

+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.

+ Supports casual play: Easy to pick up, leave off, continue later.

+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of hourses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.

+ Tablet friendly strategy game: Automatically scales the map for any physical screen size/resolution from small smartphones to HD tablets, while settings allow you to fine tune hexagon and font sizes.

+ Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units.

+ Inexpensive: The classic strategy game campaign for a cup of coffee!

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

Join your fellow strategy gamers in reliving the famous campaigns of the Second World War!

"The Italian campaign was a nightmare. The mountains were treacherous, the weather was terrible, and the Allies were relentless."
- Generalfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring, Commander-in-Chief South

Conflict-Series by Joni Nuutinen has offered highly rated Android-only strategy board games since 2011, and even the first scenarios are still actively updated. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming mechanics TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any solo indie developer could dream of. If you have advice on how to improve this board game series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth chat without the limits of the store's comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on various stores, it’s just not sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if there is a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will get back to you. Thanks for understanding!

New features
