This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Real World App Demo on PC Windows and Mac.

-retrieves user GPS
-calls openstreetmap.org api to get xml file of surrounding map data
-parses xml file data stored in OSM format
-draws lines for 'ways' between 'nodes' of parsed data
-generates random GPS locations and places icons denoting in-game locations

next steps:
-building UI for map scene
-using Vuforia to generate augmented reality 3d models viewable through phone camera and track models using objects in the real world
