This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing TfL Oyster and contactless on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. One dislike about the app is "electronic debit card appearing twice" in the app. I know the "why" behind this is explained in the app FAQ but seeing duplicated info makes things confusing. Please address this if possible. Do that and 5 stars will be given from here. Apart from that, it's a great idea. App works well, almost rendering having an Oystercard redundant if you use a debit card.

Used to work. Now it doesn't. Have tried twice to contact customer services. No reply. Tried to uninstall and reinstall. Simply useless. Edit: after a few months of problems with this I was eventually contacted by the person below who helped me out. Unfortunately customer services didn't do anything and it wasn't obvious what the problem was even though it had a very simple solution. Thankyou for your help Faith but TFL as a company could really have sorted this out for me ages ago.

Poor accessibility. Captchas everywhere. The on-boarding screens have no indicator (dots or arrows) to tell you to swipe or that there are other screens to see. I thought the app had frozen for a bit. I cannot add a contactless card here or on the website either... Server error

App is not working anymore, I just get a buy anytime anywhere screen. Update: It works now, thanks for the tip! I pressume it would be advantageous if it was made clear that you have to swipe to get to use the app. Thanks

I am now unable to use the app and top up online. App freezes at the the green screen. Need help with this, as I am unable to use website version. It's asking for further information and I am unable to input card number because it has been worn away from the back of the card.

Functional practical app, although the limit for deposits to the Oystercard need to be at least doubled from the current (April 2021) maximum of £90, considering the astronomical prices for travel around London when compared to all other cities and countries where I have been. Considering the unbelievable frequency and amounts of these rises you may soon need to incorporate a mortgage application feature with the fantastic app.

Manage your adult Oyster and contactless cards on the move with the app.

• Top up pay as you go credit
• Buy adult rate 7 Day, Monthly and Annual Travelcards, and Bus & Tram Passes
• View your Oyster card and contactless journey history
• Check contactless payments
• Check your pay as you go balance and see season tickets
• Check if you have any incomplete journeys
• Allow notifications when your pay as you go balance falls below a certain amount, or your Travelcard is about to expire

When you top up your credit or buy a Travelcard or Bus & Tram Pass, it will be available to collect after 30 minutes when you touch your Oyster card on a yellow card reader as part of a journey on any London bus, or at any Tube, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail or National Rail station within the pay as you go area, tram stop or River Bus pier.

Keeping on top of your spend is easy; see the date, time and cost of your journeys from the last 8 weeks.

Customers who have not already added their contactless card to an online account can do so at contactless.tfl.gov.uk.

The TfL Oyster and contactless app will request access to your camera. This is so that you can scan your payment card. We will never store the scanned pictures. Alternatively you can enter the card details manually.

You can’t currently add Oyster photocards to this app.
You can’t currently buy discounted tickets through the app.

For security reasons TfL Oyster app is not supported on rooted devices.
