About this app

Christchurch Stands Tall is a Wild in Art event happening in Christchurch, New Zealand from 3rd November 2014 to 26th January 2015. For 12 weeks up to 100 Giraffes will be on display across the city on streets, in parks, libraries, malls, a cathedral, the airport and vacant sites. In collaboration with many sponsors, schools, artists, charities and groups the Christchurch Stands Tall trail will celebrate the strength, talent, beauty and future of this unique city!
Over 40 individually decorated 2.5 metre high Giraffe sculptures have been sponsored by companies and decorated by artists from Christchurch, New Zealand and Australia. 48 primary schools from around the city have also painted 1.3 metre high versions of the adorable Giraffe sculpture and these will also be displayed across the city for 12 weeks.
At the end of the project the large sculptures will be sold at a charity auction to raise money for four charities working in the city; Child Cancer, Life Education Trust, Gap Filler and Life in Vacant Spaces.
Use the Christchurch Stands Tall app to navigate your way around the city and find every Giraffe on the trail. There is information about each Giraffe, so you know where to find it, who sponsored it and what the design looks like. As you find the Giraffes you will be given vouchers and can enter into competitions to win amazing prizes given by our Sponsors. The app will track your progress so you can see how many Giraffes you have seen and how many you have left to go.
