I love GIMP and have been using it for years on my laptop. Although there were ambitious and good intentions with this app, it just does not do well on Android. Too much lag, issues with resolution, slow response, etc. Try something else. This one just will not give you the performance you need to make even the simplest design changes to an images of even a text graphic.

An interesting port. Sadly I can't use it as the x cursor just drifts. So after 10 seconds it's always At thr edge of screen, so tap anywhere and it affects the edge (where there probably aren't any buttons) note3, stylus in holder , hands in my pockets.

Works absolutely fine. BUT very heavy app. It loads a Linux kernel with a xfce desktop. It takes 5 min on my S7 Edge to be fully operational... Don't choose a native resolution but half of it works fine for me. Police's size x0.7 is OK. Use an external mouse with a USB dongle. PS: Microsoft users might be disoriented... Much easier if you have some knowledge with Linux environment. Many thanks for this app.

It does work, it only takes some effort to set everything up. for me: - understanding what resolution, scaling worked best - configuring gimp for easiest possible work with an interface not really intended for a tablet. - understanding how to summon the keyboard (read the app notes first!) - getting rid of Inkscape which I do not need that... and I am still learning. All things considered, once you configure what you can, nad come to terms with the rest... it works as advertised. I would still pay big money (in app terms) for a native android porting of the gimp anyways.

I really don't like giving bad reviews, especially for software I have loved on the PC but this app has in no way been optimized for android and small screens. It is completely useless on my Galaxy Note 4.

Yeah it's a bit glitchy and hard to get used too at first but it's the real Gimp and Inkscape on a mini Linux OS! It's not a watered down baby app for your phone it's computer version. Hey if you can port the real blender you will make my day. Awesome, thank you!

For best results, also enable Windows → Single Window Mode in GIMP.

Press Back key to show keyboard.

To send right mouse click - touch screen with two fingers, or press a button on your stylus.

To send middle mouse click - touch screen with three fingers, this will drag/scroll image in Gimp.

If you have Menu key, you can use it to undo last action.

If Open or Save dialog is frozen - open the keyboard using Back key, and press Enter or Esc key, you have to do that only once. If your keyboard does not have Esc key - install Hacker's Keyboard.

Finger hover is supported. If you have Galaxy S4/S5 or Note 3/4, enable AirView in system settings to use it.

If you have Error -24 when installing this app - install this version (it's the same app with different name):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libsdl-android/files/apk/XServer-XSDL/GIMP-Inkscape-zz-2.8.14.25.apk

Do not uninstall this app if you have Android 4.4 or older - you will not be able to install it again, because of a bug in Android, which was fixed in Android 5.0.
Clear app data instead to save space - long-press app icon in drawer, drag it to App Info icon, and select Clear data.

To add fonts, copy them to directory Android/data/org.gimp.inkscape/files/gimp/fonts on your SD card.

To disable gyroscope, tap Change device config during app start, select Mouse emulation → Advanced → Gyroscope.

To set 24bpp color depth or portrait screen orientation, go to Change device config → Video.

To use dark color theme - double-click Root terminal icon on desktop, and type commands:

apt-get update

apt-get install murrine-themes

Confirm installation, then open Menu → Settings → Appearance, and select NOX theme.

Installing Debian packages with apt-get or dpkg does not work on Android 6.0 Marshmallow or newer.
