This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing onX Offroad: Trail Maps & GPS on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

I installed this app and played around with it while at home. Liked it and purchased premier. An hour later, after closing the app, I got in the car and ran some errands. 10 minutes later, in the background, it used up my Gig of data. Not yet knowing what happened, I bought and extra Gig. Ten minutes later, the app used it up. It did this in the background. I had to deny it mobile data, which makes it useless. I think I will need to uninstall it and get my money back. Update: Called the helpdesk. Very helpful. My confidence in the app is restored. The app was still downloading offline maps (for whatever reason) when I left the house and lost wifi. It currently does not differentiate between mobile data and wifi for the purposes of downloading offline maps. We agreed that a knob or two which could give the user the ability to prohibit background map downloads using mobile data is needed. The user should be able to specify a blanket prohibition, and also be able to make selective exceptions.

Map is unintuitive, can't seem to find a key on app. Website has the key but all the colors are very similar and I would have to go back and forth to see if this shade of green is what I think it is. When I tap the map location it also doesn't give much info about what that land is about (I'm looking for BLM land). When I select a trail it will show where I tapped with an x but will not select the trail more than half the time even with the x on the icon it will just show me the coordinates.

Been using OnX Offroad for almost a year now. We love to find trails near wherever we go or explore areas we know we want to visit. I've tried many different apps and none compete with OnX. The offline maps feature is phenomenal as well as being able to see private parcel and public roads. I generally use the hybrid mode to see satellite and topographic lines simultaneously. My phone would overheat with other apps but has been reliable recording with OnX.

Took my money for a 1 year subscription through Google play and now it won't allow me to log in with my google play account and access my subscription. Will be canceling because of this. On top of the app almost being good, but not quite. Update: dev replied on Google play store but did not send me an email to recover password. Recover password doesn't seem to send the email either

OnX is great. I've been using it for 3 years. I like being able to see who owns what and how big the parcels are. This ap also helps me with work. I realize that the maps are likely imported from Counties' GIS and are not survey accurate but they definitely get the job done! Bravo on a great product.

Offroad Trails with this app "pop". You can clearly see the trails and track your progress. Just download the maps of the areas you want to go.. Label the maps in your library for quick access.. Pull up your offline maps(because I can guarantee there will be no internet), and Jeep on. Great product.
