Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing NeoDash on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.
  4. Wait a few seconds for the installation to complete. Once done, the installed app will appear on the BlueStacks home screen. Click its icon to start using the application.

Using LDPlayer

  1. Download and install LDPlayer from https://www.ldplayer.net.

always enjoy seeing clever uses of the recommendations row (and its side effects, like changing the background) still futzing with it to get it to show the necessary recommendation (update: be sure to 'select' a source for wallpaper), but one immediate suggestion is to improve the focus selection contrast within the settings screen, the focus indicator as i navigate with my d-pad is too subtle. update: adding weather seems to make in crash, in my case.

About this app

NeoDash is a new modular screensaver app designed for Android TV. It makes the best use of screen real-estate by showing lots of useful information.

The app is based on Muzei (https://github.com/romannurik/muzei) and DashClock (https://github.com/romannurik/dashclock), and uses both of those platforms to give users immediate access to ample numbers of extensions. NeoDash combines both services in a way that minimizes the impact of those codebases and maximizes the user experience on televisions.

New artwork gives users a notification with `PRIORITY_MAX`, often being the first notification on your TV. When you press home, this effectively changes your background to be whichever image you want.

Both Muzei and DashClock are licensed with the Apache 2.0 License.
