বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতির অনেকাংশই ফসল উৎপাদনের ওপর নির্ভরশীল। ফসলের উৎপাদন ভালো হলে দেশের অব্ভন্তরীন চাহিদা মেটানোর পর ফসল রপ্তানি করেও বাংলাদেশ অনেক অর্থ উপার্জন করতে পারে। কিন্তু ফসলের উৎপাদন খারাপ হলে রপ্তানি তো করতে পারেই না, বরং আমদানি করতে খরচ করতে হয় প্রচুর অর্থ। এভাবে বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতি ফসল উৎপাদন দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত।

ফসলের উৎপাদন বিভিন্ন রোগ বালাই দ্বারা ফসল আক্রান্ত হওয়ার কারণ এ কমে যেতে পারে।অনেক সময় কৃষকরা বুঝে ওঠার আগেই ফসলের মাঠে এমনভাবে রোগ ছড়িয়ে পরে যে তখন আর কিছু করার থাকে না। কিন্তু বর্তমান বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির যুগে গ্রাম বাংলার অনেকের হাতেই রয়েছে এন্ড্রয়েড ফোন। কিন্তু তারা এখনো ইন্টারনেট ব্রাউসিং করে উইকিপেডিয়া থেকে ফসলের সমস্যা বুঝতে পারদর্শী না। অন্যদিকে বেশির ভাগ ওয়েবসাইটগুলো ইংরেজিতে লেখা। সেখান থেকে তাদের ফসলের সমস্যা খুঁজে বের করা, এর করণীয় বুঝা তাদের জন্য খুবই দুষ্কর।
