This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing ÖBB Scotty on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Schedule is good, but tickets are nightmare. After buying tickets it says go to the app, login and the ticket will appear. I go to the app, there is NO way to login anywhere and the ticket is ofcourse nowhere to be seen. I end up going in endless circles between app and website. Useless for tickets on the go.

Since the updates in the last months it is impossible to see a route that makes any sense. It doesn't show alternative routes and the routes that are being shown are straight out stupid. If I wanted to look on the map and plan the way myself I wouldn't have installed this app. On average the routes take 15-40 minutes longer than they did before. After 6 years of basically daily use I will uninstall it.

The widget doesn't fit (there is always a lot of empty space between the widget content and the rest. But what's worse is that it always shows the default platform, not the one it has been changed to. Missed two trains already because of this. The time often jumps ahead several hours for no reason. In the app: Delays sometimes disappear (from certain trains) and reappear some time later. Result is me being even later than i already am due to their daily(!) delayed train service.

Much better than the disastrous main ÖBB app (used for ticketing). Could use improved mapping features though such as the ability to turn on the terrain view.

Well, I tried the webpage first. Got me very weird search results apart from being ridiculous to use on a phone. So I downloaded the app which gave me a neverending spinning circle of doom everytime I tried to get a (any) search result. Desktop computer finally did the job. I am sorry for you guys working in support here.

Pretty useful app! But since the update 3 days ago, app is not working anymore. Giving all the time this Error message when you are searching for timetables: "Error: ÖBB Reiseportal Make available offline" Would be nice if this bug was fixed! Otherwise is this app useless!

With SCOTTY mobil the ÖBB offers you the most comprehensive information service about public transport in Austria. Now SCOTTY mobil you will have access to all important information about your journey while being on the go. From most up-to-date itineraries with maps to real-time information.

Journey planner for public transport
SCOTTY mobil has access to all schedules of public transport operators in Austria and calculates the optimal trips for you by train, bus, tram, subway and ship. Of course you can look at footpaths to stops and stations clearly laid out in a street map - this way you'll always find your way. When looking for the quickest route to one of your contacts SCOTTY mobil calculates that by taking the adress from your contacts. This service needs access to your adresses, so SCOTTY mobil asks you for access to your contacts the first time you activate it. This is the only SCOTTY-service that accesses contact information. No personal data is used, only adress data.

Information in real-time
Wherever you are, now you can get all the most up-to-date travel information directly on your Android device. It doesn't matter whether you're on board of a train or if you're picking somebody up at the station - with SCOTTY mobil you know if your train is on schedule. If you like, you can also get the Timeboard, the departure monitor of your stop / station, directly on your Android screen.

Most up to date disruption information
A storm paralyzes half of Austria? A route is completely blocked? A rail replacement bus service will be in place? Always something unexpected may happen, that's life! But from now on you're always informed. You will get all information about delays or disruptions in the ÖBB railway network directly within SCOTTY mobil. This way you always stay connected.

ÖBB train radar
The train radar shows all ÖBB-trains running in the Austrian railway network on a map. Not only do you see all long distance trains but also regional trains. By clicking on a train you get information on its real time data – location and punctuality – and ist next stops. The viewing of trains can be limited to train types – for instance railjet or suburban trains – or to certain trains.
