Very disapointed with the app! Camera's are fantastic, videos are crisp and clear, which is why I went with blackvue in the first but the only issue I've run into is the videos can only be veiwed through the app and it wouldn't be an issue if the stupid app worked!! I spent an whole stinking hour trying to register my camera and eventually gave up because I had no success! It kept telling me it was already registered even though I hadn't yet. It's so infuriating!!! FIX THE APP!

Just like everyone says, currently this app is broken. I just bought a new DR770X and I can't even get my phones connected to it through this app. One of the reasons why I got another/modern Blackvue was to simplify adjustability in user settings by using a wireless connection rather than hooking up to a computer. This app in it's current state is virtually useless. I could not connect long enough to access videos or camera settings through bluetooth/wifi or even manual SSID password. Needs fix.

App overhaul did nothing to resolve existing issues that prevent the app from being usable at a basic level. There's a third party app that allows flawless interaction with your dash cam. Why can a single person develop an app that functions so much better than this one? Edit: it's been over 5 years since this review and it's still relevant. They've failed to resolve fundamental issues with the app.

The app will not connect to a camera. After the "big update" that nobody wanted to make it a social media platform, 0 functions involving your camera work. I am actively connected to my camera and the app just continues to tell me how to type in a password. I hit the connect button and after 30 seconds it just times out.

The app is just good, not great. Putting ALL the settings in a convenient spot would be better. I fumbled around forever to figure out how to change notification settings. Camera settings are too sensitive to start. They should default to the recommended settings as documented on their website then allow people to fine tune. Put the gear icon permanently at the top and allow access to all settings through that, not some in profile, some on the bell, and some in the camera.

They are slowly but surely fixing the app. It still feels inconsistent, my camera settings get reset more often than I'd like, but a lot of the basic functionality is back. It's still not quite where it was before, but I think that's because they're locking a lot of features behind the cloud plan pay wall. Black vue would easily be 5 stars if they let you do you own cloud hosting with the camera; using a network streaming protocol like RTSP or something. But they don't as far as I can tell.
