Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing The Parking Fairy on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

About this app

The Parking Fairy solves your parking problems magically. As you drive into a city centre, the Parking Fairy sends you a magical little notification to let you know where the nearest available parking space is for you to park in, based upon real-time live parking data. The notification is also sent to your Apple Watch for a hands-free experience.

If you’re unsure of where the parking space is, you can pull over and launch the app to get turn by turn driving directions to the parking space.

The Parking Fairy is initially available in Newcastle, with plans to potentially roll it out across the Northern Powerhouse, nationwide, and eventually worldwide.

The Parking Fairy has been developed as part of the North East & Tees Valley Digital Catapult’s Data Movement app competition, with support from Sunderland Software City. We hope you find it useful.

The Parking Fairy uses live UTMC Car Park data, provided by the NECA and the NECA Open Data Service, under their Open Data Licence.
