This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing OpenKey on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. Don't waste your time. It doesn't work. Staying in the Queen Suite at the Clarendon and the app recognizes the room were staying in but doesn't unlock the door, period. Tried reinstalling and same result. Disappointing.

What an incredibly bad app. After first entering the hotel / room, I found that it wouldn't work a second time. When I called the hotel to ask, they said "people say reinstalling it helps". So here I am... reinstalling the app everytime I need to get into my room. You all have to fix this asap...

I'm writing this while locked out of my hotel room. Seems the engineers behind this product have problems reproducing and correcting a clearly repeatable bug. Lock doesn't respond to button that worked earlier today. Shows connecting screen then back to unpressed button state and lock doesn't move. Will try uninstalling and redownloading the app. Oh wait, user error not holding the phone close enough to the lock?!
