This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing PocketGrib on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

Been using PocketGrib for years now. Its one of the best and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs good accurate forecasts when going out on their boat

Used for several years now. Always been as reliable as can be expected with something as variable as weather. Data always quick to download. Only criticism is speed at which it runs weather sequence. Would be good if there was an option to run at full speed or half speed or quarter speed.

Seriously GREAT app, just wish a line route (e.g. sailing) from point A to point B could be inserted onto map with spead setting. This means that weather information could be calculated per time on line route making it easier and more accurate as to when to expect what on route.

Easy to use. Friend has paid version on iPhone that gives average wind speed and gusts. Free version on Android doesnt have gust info. I paid for Android version to get extra info but there doesnt seem to be any difference between free and paid versions.

With PocketGrib GRIB file viewer you can easily download, view and analyse global weather data.

Wind, preciptation, pressure, temperature and wave data extracted from GRIB files are displayed through our simple interface.

This GRIB viewer is perfect for sailors (both sailing and in the pub), windsurfers, storm chasers, outdoor enthusiasts, amateur and professional meteorologists.

By downloading only what the user needs it it possible to keep the GRIB files small which makes it especially convenient for low bandwidth regions or when roaming internationally.

GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. Therefore some knowledge and awareness is required by the end user. Most GRIB models do NOT accurately forecast hurricanes and tropical cyclones so their use should be combined with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts.
